Four years ago I started something. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I started anyway. I didn’t have confidence, know what would happen or if I’d succeed, but I started anyway.
In fact, I was afraid, but I started anyway.
And because I started anyway, what happened is I got to celebrate a four year anniversary instead of wishing I woulda coulda shoulda.
This is what happens when you start anyway.
A year from now you will wish you had started today. —Karen Lamb
WHY WAIT
People don’t do what they wish for due to things they call reasons.
- Not enough time.
- Not enough money.
- Don’t know how.
- Previous failure.
- Feels impossible.
- Too old.
- Too young.
There’s a pandemic going on…
Those are excuses.
We blame them instead of taking ownership of our choice.
When we call them reasons it’s because we’re afraid of the unknown outcome of our actions. We need to call them what they are and embrace the change needed to obtain what we say we wish for.
Growth means change and change involves risk, stepping from the known to the unknown. —George Shinn

START YOUR WISHES
What do you wish for? What do you wish you would’ve started last year? Or even last month, or last week?
Don’t wish – start.
The current global pandemic will try to stop you—start anyway.
Start now. Start where you are. Start with fear. Start with pain. Start with doubt. Start with hands shaking. Start with voice trembling but start. Start and don’t stop. Start where you are, with what you have. Just… start. ―Ijeoma Umebinyuo
Start moving in the direction of what you wish for.
WHAT ABOUT RISK
Is it risky to start? Of course it is. Nothing of value comes without risk.
You have one life. One. There are no do-overs. There are only new beginnings, new starts. What if you could do what you dream and become more than you can imagine?
I’m celebrating four years of blogging. Since then I’ve become so much more. When I started blogging I had no clear insight into where I was going. All I had was an inkling fueled by words I read somewhere.
And so, as ignorant as I was, I started anyway because the call I felt in my heart was worth the risk.
YOU are worth the risk. You can press through the fear.

POWER TO CONTINUE
After I started, I didn’t just flail around hoping to get better. I found power to continue through learning and growing. This involves a lot of change.
Change can do amazing things.
Making peace with it calms us. Taking ahold of it intentionally will empower us to grow into what we want instead of discovering what we’ve unintentionally become.
I have gone through incremental personal transformations. Little by little with every new level I’ve embraced a new freedom, a new revelation, a new perspective or a new empowerment and grown beyond my wildest dreams.
Happy anniversary to me and I’m just getting started.
I BELIEVE IN YOU
If I can start, and continue, and accomplish—so can you.
Take the first step. ONE step.
We think of change as a colossal thing. Not always.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. ―Lao Tzu
Everyone is able to take one step. Even during a pandemic.
We trip up when we try to look too far ahead and do too much at once. Start with one little thing.
Don’t think little of little.
Big changes are the result of doing things little by little.

WHERE TO START
It starts with seeing your value.
Your life matters. Your health matters. Your pain matters. Your dreams matter…
If you look down on yourself or compare yourself to others this mindset needs to change for you to accomplish all you dream. Your life flows out of your heart and your heart has an opinion of you. This opinion drives your life.
What is your opinion of you?
Is it negative or positive?
If you need your opinion to change, that’s where you start.
Once you get a glimpse of your amazing value and potential the voices of other people’s opinions will fade.
NO EXCUSES
Face your reasons and call them what they are – excuses.
You ARE worth it. You can make the time. You can find the money. You can learn how. Failure is not final. Impossible is just a word until someone does it.
You are NOT too young. You are NOT too old.

Hi Danielle – a timely and well spoken post! Loved your paragraph, “Where it Starts – it starts with seeing your value”. During a very challenging day with people who weren’t friendly, I heard the Lord whisper in my ❤️ “Don’t think too little of yourself either.”
That’s where I’m starting today – challenging the familiar thought “you don’t matter”. That’s not true but unless I challenge it – the thought – it hibernates in my emotions then raises its head when I’m choosing a different course that requires courage to step forward and risk, investment of time, resources and my heart.
But if I wasn’t valuable, why would God give me (I believe) a hunger to pursue something more. A vulnerable place of opening my heart to Him and explore desires deep inside my ❤️. It’s time to give those desires a voice. Thanks for your encouragement today!
How wonderful, Roz. You’re welcome.
Your words bless my heart about timing. I love it when that happens!
And I love how you put what ugly thoughts do when we don’t challenge them – they hibernate in our emotions. Hibernate – I love that, it’s so visual.
Thank you for opening up and sharing here. I appreciate you.
This makes me feel inspired to actually write the memoir I have been saying I would.
Congratulations on all you have accomplished! I watch what you do with admiration as an example for my writing.
That’s awesome, Kara – do it – start. Just start. No other pressure on yourself. One thing at a time. Day by day.
Thank you for your kind words about me. God bless you and Happy Easter.
