It was an honor to have Danielle speak at our annual Stephen Ministry Conference that was held this past Saturday, November 4, 2023, Danielle gave us an inspiring and encouraging workshop on Trauma-Informed S.E.L.F, Mental Health As A Result of Trauma. It was educational, informative and it provided valuable tools to equip our Stephen Ministers care receivers that have mental health issues as a result of trauma.
I'm the Author And Founder Of Moms Letting Go and I've known Danielle for several years. I was in a mastermind group with her where I had the opportunity to hear her speak about trauma and how she overcome church hurt. Loved this book - easy to read, honest, and relatable. She put words to experiences or thoughts I’ve had and then explained them to me and taught me out of those places. Danielle takes you to new depths as you follow along in her journey.
This is a great book that applies to me more than I thought it would. I am not a sufferer of severe trauma, but there is so much packed in this book that it could resonate with most any reader! I gained new perspectives on taking ownership of my life in ways I hadn’t considered before. Danielle writes with authority and conviction, and offers many examples of how these healing principles can work for you. You’ll discover things about yourself that you didn’t know were there. Highly recommended for anyone seeking to take ownership of their life; will take you from doubt to confidence!
What a great idea! Who doesn’t love tacos? I know my son does and I also know that school and the pressure of being 15 is really hard. Who doesn’t need more fun in their life and to build a little more self-esteem? I’m so grateful for this wonderful idea, thank you for sharing your creativity with the world! 🌎
I highly recommend this must-read short true story written for anyone who has experienced the pain and loss felt when a loved one suffers from Alzheimer's. I smiled when I read the author's unique and creative name "Payn" given to the Alzheimer's that has plagued her mother -in- law. I cried when I read the accounts of what both Ann went through as well as what Danielle experienced emotionally during this time.
It reminded me of this woman ( a dear friend) I helped for several years who suffered from the illness.I loved her so much and it was terribly sad to watch her memory fade away and all the other nasty symptoms that surfaced.This debilitating and hideous disease not only affects the one suffering from it but also shatters the hearts of those who love them. Danielle describes openly the grief, uncertainty, fear, and loss she felt while walking through this with her beloved mother- in -law.
Such a great a story and so well written. Danielle takes you on her life's journey, the way ups and way downs, a real-life hero's journey. She writes so well. She takes you into the story with her. It's heartbreaking at times and scary at times, yet very uplifting. If you have any insecurities about being loved, wanted, fitting in, anything, you should read her story. If you don't have struggles, then just enjoy a great book!
I’m about 1/2 way through the audiobook (great voice!) and felt compelled to write a review so this may help someone considering buying. I highly recommend it. It is engaging, easy to read, understand, comprehend and relate. I felt close the the author and like she wrote this for me which made me feel not alone. While the audiobook is great, my next step is to read the text, highlight and journal. Being a follower of Christ, I love the references to scripture. However, it is an inclusive book, so if Christianity doesn’t align with your beliefs, scripture is easy to skim past without changing context or value.
The author and people featured are very admirable for what they’ve overcome. I thank them for sharing their inspiring stories of discovery and healing.
I love the concept of this book. I purchases a few as a gift to give. There is a nice mixture of story, activities and writing prompts that are engaging. Great way to reinforce their value. I will be ordering more.
This insightful, heartfelt story gave me comfort because my emotions could not find words that actually put words with my feelings. This is a story that I’ve read several times and will continue to re-read because it gives me comfort and each time I come away with a new insight that I didn’t get before.

As I read Because You Matter by Danielle Bernock I found myself looking at my problems with new eyes. I felt the words written hit home with me and felt honesty and vulnerability throughout the book. I think God is using Danielle Bernock to help others heal. This book encouraged me to see my life I can take ownership of.

When boiled down to its essence, good writing should make you feel something or think something. This stunning story succeeds in doing both. A Bird named Payn tackles some massive concepts in a few poignant words. It says a lot, but ultimately focuses on understanding and taking ownership of your pain. I recommend this to anyone who has dealt with Alzheimer’s in their life or been plagued by “the bird.”
"Emerging" is a perfect word picture for this story of healing. I appreciate that Danielle left the journey intact so it provides a true representation of what healing looks like--a process of growing in knowledge, self-compassion, strength, and faith. This book is a refreshing change from the ways that faith-based stories of healing from the impact of trauma often gloss over the arduous work of healing. Emotions - thru the years we’ve been told they are not to be listened to, shamed for having them and sometimes afraid of the lack of control we feel when they surface in the wake of what triggered us to explode or implode. In Because You Matter, Danielle expresses the need for her friend Val’s (validation) help in putting them in perspective and finding peace through owning them. As Danielle explains through an amazing analogy between weather, atmosphere and flying, my heart was set on course to be discerning of my own emotional climate and finding safety in the Pursuer’s love to bring health to own my own broken places because I am worthy of love. Let this book be part of your own journey in emotional wholeness!
We purchased this book as a car activity book and it was perfect for the drive to school!! She loves completing the characters!!!
