3 Things That Are Always True

With so much uncertainty in the world how are we supposed to stay grounded? What are we to do when things throw us into inner turmoil? I had a nightmare recently that was quite unsettling. My mind and emotions were deeply affected.

But I noticed how I recovered. I anchored my soul with 3 things that are always true.

We’ll have times when upsetting things happen, and we hear lies from here, or uncertainty from there. Questions will arise that invite chaos.

But cling to what is always true, and anchor your soul.

These 3 things are always true and will anchor our heart.

THE FIRST THING

The first and foremost thing that is always, always, always true, is that God loves you. I repeated always on purpose.

It took me a long time to believe that, and internalize it. I knew it in my head. I understood English because the Bible says God loves us…but I had other compelling input that argued. I had trauma. I had lies.

But because it IS always true, God pursued me for years to convince me of his love.

I still remember the morning when I really owned the truth that God loved me. It was after I had screwed up. I had screwed up! And it was a time when it would be easy to think that God didn’t love me because I had been “bad.” But he ministered his love to my heart – when I had been “bad.”

I had read the verse in the Bible that said that.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

I heard a gazillion times. But those words are King James and that didn’t work for me. I now know that I am not alone.

I’ve learned that sometimes we need what the Bible says in our everyday getting up walking around, falling down on our face, making a mistake life way of saying it.

For example: God loves you, even when you screw up.

I understand that now. Now I believe it’s true – always.

God loves you right now, where you are, no matter what you’re doing, what you’re like or anything. There is nothing that can take that love away from you.

God loves you always.

THE SECOND THING

And the second thing that is always true is you have great value.

You have great value no matter how you’re behaving, whether you’re being good, or being bad, whether you’re following the rules, or you’re not, whether you’re being productive or being lazy, or whatever you’re doing.

You have value in you because God put it there. It’s called inherent.

You exist because you’re a creation of God and you have value right there. That’s always true. It is not based on your production level. It’s not based on your behavior.

You can hold on to that.

Especially when you have screwed up in some way, dare to believe you still have value even though you feel like a piece of crap because you just did something that you know you shouldn’t have done. Believing your value is an anchor for your heart.

It gives you something to hold on to when those winds of shame and condemnation want to just blow you away.

You have great inherent value.

THE THIRD THING

The third thing that is always true is God is good. God is good!

I was told that at a church I went to. All the time they’d say: “God is good all the time and all the time God is good.”

It was like a little mantra, which is good because it gets it in our head. It got in my head.

But in our head isn’t enough. We need it in our hearts, knowing that it’s true even when things go wrong – that God is still good.

God is not the author of all the bad. He’s the author of all the good. And if we’ll dare to anchor our heart to His goodness, and dare to believe that he IS good, even when we see so much negative stuff. Like over these past couple of years with this pandemic – it anchors our hearts.

I’ve had a lot of questions. Why this? Why that? How come this, how come that? But I know that God loves me, I know that I have value. And I know that God is good, even though all this bad stuff is happening.

When I set my heart on those things. When I dare to believe that he’s good, it empowers me to ask him for help. I can ask him to answer my questions.

I don’t always get answers to my questions.

Sometimes I do. But he likes that I asked them, and he helps me through.

He’ll help you through. Take all your questions to him.

Take your ranting and your raving to him. Take all the stuff you have anger over the last two years of the pandemic and run to God and say, “God, what the freak is going on? I don’t get what’s going on. They say you’re good, but this bad crap is going on.”

Ask him and talk to him about it, and he will anchor your heart.

I have this little bitty anchor. It doesn’t have any weight in and of itself to anchor my heart. It was given to me to remind me.

3 Things That Are Always True

There is power in remembering the truth.

REMEMBER WHAT’S TRUE

These 3 things will anchor your heart because they are true. Even when the things around you feel more true, those things are truer.

Remember them, and grab ahold of them like an anchor when the winds of change are blowing, the winds of adversity are raging, and when the winds of whatever negativity is going on.

Even grab ahold of them when good happens. Sometimes when things are going well our ego can rise up and get us into trouble.

These three things are an anchor:

  1. God loves you – always.
  2. You have inherent value – always.
  3. God is good – always.

You can reach for them all the time, and God will help you. You will always come through and overcome if you will dare to believe those three truths.

Remember you are loved, you have value, and God is good —always!
