Words are powerful. They can build up or tear down. Using words with focused intention is even more powerful. Doing this can bring healing to your body and alter the course of your life. This is part of the message in my book Because You Matter.
Intentional words powerfully changed my life. Now there’s scientific validation in the book The Power of Neuroplasticity. It’s about rewiring your brain and by the same author as, What to Say When You Talk to Yourself.
These 3 books are powerful for your life because your perceived significance matters. What you think, and how you talk comes out of that.
You have the power to change your life.

SELF-TALK
I read What to Say When You Talk to Yourself many years ago. The topic of self-talk was strange to me, but I was desperate to change my life, so I put into practice what the author taught. I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve practiced self-talk ever since.
The message of the book is to discover how you’re talking to yourself and make intentional changes. These changes program your mind. This programming creates new mindsets and perceptions of yourself. When you see yourself differently, you’ll naturally act and talk differently also.
Everyone talks to themselves more than they realize. Not just verbally.
There’s a program that plays in the back of your mind. Being intentional with self-talk is like grabbing the steering of your life. Some refer to it as affirmations. Others call it confessions. What you call it is less important than doing it. By practicing self-talk, you take ownership of your life and reclaim your power.
What you choose to say to yourself is the direction your life will go.

NEUROPLASTICITY
The Power of Neuroplasticity is about self-talk also, but it goes further. Not only does self-talk affect mindsets and behavior, but it also alters brain chemistry. The author (Shad Helmstetter Ph. D) provides information about scientific studies.
I’m reading this book now and seeing how neuroplasticity is not only powerful for life improvement, it can save lives.
People who’ve suffered childhood trauma not only have things going on in their mind, and emotions; studies show how childhood trauma also chemically alters the brain. This change in brain chemistry is found to shorten people’s lives. Some of the chemical changes in the brain are; less white matter, disrupted myelination of axons, and impaired connectivity between parts of the brain. I’m not here with a biology lesson though. The point is these things can be repaired through neuroplasticity, extending a person’s life expectancy.
Neuroplasticity isn’t a quick fix, or instant change. In the book Dr. Helmstetter shares “7 Rules of Neuroplasticity” and how to implement them. Quickly for you here they are mindfulness, choices, intention, focus, repetition, emotion, and belief. It takes all seven rules working together to bring the desired results.
Rewiring your brain takes intentional work over a period of time.

BECAUSE YOU MATTER
I encourage you to use get the 2 books above because your life matters and they’ll help you.
My book Because You Matter: How to Take Ownership of Your Life So You Can Really Live focuses on your inherent value helping you deal with trauma. People incur trauma either in childhood or as adults. Failing to address it is harmful and sometimes deadly.
I’ve always believed dealing with your trauma can change life expectancy. Neuroplasticity supports my belief. Not only can you heal from childhood trauma and live better, but you can also live longer and overturn what happened in the brain.
Dealing with my trauma changed my life in so many ways. I’m much healthier than I was before, as well as much happier.
I wrote Because You Matter because I care about you and want you to become healthier and happier.
